'.50 Caliber Sniper Rifles are a Threat to My Security. Stop Their Open Sale at Gun Shops in the U.S.A.'

Can you believe that the NRA has made sure that terrorists or any crazed nut can buy a .50 caliber sniper rifle easier than a handgun? Yes, in the United States (with the sole exception of California), almost anyone can walk into a gun shop and buy a .50 cal that can shoot down an airplane landing or taking off and shoot through armor!

The bullet on the left in this picture is a .223 round from an AR-15 assault rifle. The bullet in the middle is a .30-06 hunting round. And yet the .50 caliber, the sniper rifle bullet on the right, towers over both of them.

Recently, the Bush Administration accused Iran of supplying .50 caliber sniper rifles to kill our forces in Iraq. In fact, they may be the guns being used to shoot down our military helicopters there.

So, if these are such dangerous weapons to soldiers in combat -- and can shoot down a plane during landing or takeoff -- why are they sold legally at gun stores across America, as well as on the Internet and at Gun shows?

Why? Because the NRA puts our personal security at risk in order to support the profits of the gun industry.

I am opposed to the NRA helping to arm terrorists by advocating for the continued sales of .50 caliber sniper rifles to almost anyone who wants one.
I believe that the .50 caliber sniper rifle should be restricted to military and law enforcement personnel.
I oppose the NRA's successful efforts to allow people on the terrorist watch list to buy .50 caliber sniper rifles.
I support sanity in our gun laws, and the sale of .50 caliber sniper rifles to almost any adult is not in the interest of our national security.

I support an America that enjoys the freedom of deciding common sense gun policy, free of the stranglehold of the NRA and the gun industry.
