Tell Your Rep - No More Wars for Mr. Bush!

Thank you for taking a moment to demand that your Represenative sign on to the "pre-emptive" effort to stop President Bush from attacking Iran. They need to hear from all of us, as regularly as possible - on this issue as well as the Iraq war - to stop this apparently war-crazed administration.

Remember, for extra impact, you can edit and personalize the email below. A few of your own words and emotions, particularly in the subject line and first two paragraphs, definitely attracts the attention of Congressional staff.

As a Peace Action member, I am horrified by President Bush’s recent moves toward military confrontation with Iran, and urge you to take immediate action to prevent such a war by co-sponsoring H.J.Res. 14 (introduced by Rep. Walter Jones) and H.Con.Res. 33 (introduced by Rep. Peter DeFazio). Mr. Bush refuses to talk with the Iranian government directly, and instead sends aircraft carriers and gives orders for our troops to kill Iranian “operatives” in Iraq, even while the Iraqi government invites representatives from its neighbor to join them in security talks. This is insane, and a war with Iran would be even more catastrophic than the war in Iraq. It would bring the condemnation of the world down on us, increase attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq, and continue to increase the terrorist threat – as the war in Iraq itself has done. I cannot urge you strongly enough to co-sponsor the two resolutions in the House of Representatives to demand that President Bush not take any military action against Iran without specific Congressional authorization: Rep. Walter Jones’ H.J.Res. 14, and Rep. Peter DeFazio’s H.Con.Res. 33. Generations to come will look to this moment to see whether our government chose diplomacy, sanity and peace, or unending war.
