Stop Violence Against Guatemalan Women!

This action is no longer active as of Wednesday May 10, 2006. A bipartisan group of over 100 members of Congress signed the letters due to your advocacy!

Please visit our Femicide page for more information and/or send an email to be on our list for upcoming actions on this issue. Thank you!

Right now femicides are spreading throughout Central America -- women are being raped, mutilated, and murdered. Over 2200 women have been murdered in Guatemala since 2001, but only 12 perpetrators have been successfully prosecuted.

A letter is now circulating in the House of Representatives asking the US State Department to provide increased public support and assistance to encourage timely and thorough investigations of these femicides and of attacks against human rights defenders.

CGRS and US Women Without Borders urge you to join the Campaign to Stop the Femicides and help end violence against women in Guatemala. Please ask your congressperson to sign this important letter
today.
