Expel DeLuca

Senator DeLuca Must Be Expelled From The CT State Senate

"No elected official who pledges to serve the political and business interests of a reputed mobster and who asks him to assault another human being should remain in office or receive a state pension with taxpayer money."

Background:

On June 12, The Hartford Courant called on Senator DeLuca (one of the most extreme-right Republicans in CT) to resign or be removed from the Senate.

He refused.

Yet the Democratic Party is reluctant to expel DeLuca because Senator Williams, the Democratic Senate President, claims they don't want to look partisan. They are hoping the Republican Party will censure one of its own. This is ludicrous!

Expulsion is not a partisan issue; it is about holding elected officials accountable to their oath of office. Tell Senator Williams that DeLuca must be expelled immediately for moral delinquency, contempt for the rule of law and democracy, conviction of threatening, and causing a scandal in government. Only expulsion will repudiate Mr. DeLuca's corruption and begin to restore public faith in democracy.

Undisputed Facts in the Case:

Fact: Mr. DeLuca told an undercover FBI agent posing as an associate of James Galante that "anytime [Galante] needs anything, within my power, that I can do, I will do." He added, "anything that could hurt [Galante] I'll try to blunt as best I can." Galante is indicted on federal racketeering, kidnapping and arson charges with alleged ties to the mafia.

Fact: Mr. DeLuca declined a bride from the same FBI agent, stating he was "afraid of them guys [FBI agents] . . . tracing things and [expletive] like that."

Fact: Mr. DeLuca was convicted of threatening in asking Galante, whom he believed to be "on the fringes" of organized crime to physically assault a man.
