In the People of Faith Blog:

Fear of a Black Planet
"White fear of a Bad Negro rising up to lead the masses of slaves was- and still is- a major concern. Obama represents the New Bad Negro. He is equipped with intellectual powers and speaking abilities far above McCain. In the past whites feared the muscular black able to lead his people. Well, Obama is leading not only blacks but white folk in an uprising against conventional thinking about race, politics or how America is run."
-- Cornell Lewis, Founder of Men of Color Initiative

Road to TransEquality in 2009
"It was 1991 when Connecticut's sexual orientation anti-discrimination bill was passed, without trans inclusion. It was 2008 when the Connecticut Supreme Court recognized Marriage Equality. It is quickly becoming 2009 and the Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Communities still lack basic human rights protections in Connecticut! The time has come for TransEquality in '09."
-- Jerimarie Liesegang, Director of the CT TransAdvocacy Coalition

Meet Bruce The Plumber, Joe's Employee‏
"Class Warfare? Re-distributing wealth?
The capitalist class, Republican and Democrat alike, have been waging class warfare against workers for decades. This is witnessed by the deregulation of industry, tax breaks for the wealthiest individuals and corporations, declining real wages, skyrocketing CEO pay, attacks on organized labor, anti-worker free-trade agreements, profit hungry health insurance and perverse levels of inequality."
-- Todd Vachon, US Congress Candidate, Second Congressional District

Mobsters for Cappiello
"If Cappiello had done the right thing, he wouldn't have lied to the FBI, he wouldn't have accepted the illegal campaign contributions, and he wouldn't be covering his tracks now."
-- CT Citizens Action Group

Time To Design A New Economy
"The prime reason the corporate chiefs resorted to paper schemes to enrich themselves is because they were so successful in keeping wages down. To keep up buying power they got Americans to work more and more hours and take on more and more debt. That couldn't go on forever so Wall Street went gaga producing financial paper. It blew bubble after bubble declaring them to be 100 carat diamonds. The real way to guarantee buying power is to guarantee decent wages. To do that the government has to create a huge public enterprise sector, businesses collectively owned by their employees"
-- Stan Heller, moderator of the listserv StopTheWar
