Episcopal Diocesan Convention Adopts Two Social Justice Legislation Resolutions
The Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut urges the Governor and the members of the State Legislature to appropriate funds for the following legislation: Earned Income Tax Credit, Rental Assistance Program, Supportive Housing, HUSKY, Paid Sick Leave.

Episcopal Diocese Adopts Resolution to Marry Lesbian & Gay Couples in Connecticut
"The Episcopal Church has discerned the Spirit of God's desire regarding the full inclusion of gays and lesbians in the Church for well over 30 years and affirmed their participation as equals by virtue of Baptism. This Baptismal equality continues to be denied in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony."

Real Democracy Versus Majority Rule
"To even begin to think in terms of genuine democracy, everyone in the community has to come to the table as equals. Without some check on the majority view, without some guarantees of basic human rights and social equality for all people, the minority inevitably comes to the table as second class citizens."
-- Peter Goselin, Two Good Hands

PSL Candidates Celebrate Connecticut Same-Sex Marriage Victory and Demand Equality for All!
"The Democratic and Republican presidential candidates both oppose same-sex marriage. Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin are both known for their bigoted and backward views against LGBT people. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and VP candidate Joseph Biden opportunistically pay lip service to LGBT struggles to win support from the community, but they have always bowed to reaction and come out against full equality. Neither capitalist party will do anything to forward the struggle for LGBT equality."
-- Statement from the Party for Socialism and Liberation's LaRiva/Puryear Presidential Campaign

Help Us Elect Candidates Who Support Ending Anti-Transgender Discrimination!‏
Can you make time during the next couple of weeks through election day, and help campaign for legislators who support ending discrimination in our laws based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression?
--Tonia Loconte

Constitutional Convention: Citizen Initiatives are a Hot Topic
"For us, the bottom line is ballot initiatives in Connecticut would create an open season on women and minority rights," said Frank O'Gorman, director of the People of Faith Connecticut. "For us it's a human and civil rights issue." He said Daly's group and others are hoping to push "right-wing agendas" and tamper with laws affecting abortion, immigration and same-sex marriage.
