Data security breaches put millions of Americans at risk for ID theft in the past two years. There are simple reforms that will substantially reduce the problem, and many have passed in one state or another. Its about time that Congress implemented them for the whole nation without limiting the states' ability to do more.

Data brokers, credit bureaus and financial services companies oppose the kinds of reforms that will really make your financial information more secure and give you control. That's why we're asking you to write a letter to your local paper. Its a great way to show how important this problem is to consumers and highlight your personal take on it. Your Congress person watches the letters section to find out what constituents in his or her district really care about.
