November 22, 2009 Subject: I wish to appeal to you on behalf of CLIFFORD KIMMEL, who is due to be executed on September 20, 2007. My sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of Rachel White, Susan Halverstadt and Brett Roe and I agree this was a very tragic event that cannot go unpunished. However, the death penalty—which only serves to create more victims and perpetuate a cycle of violence—is not the right punishment for CLIFFORD KIMMEL. Clifford admitted to his role in the crime when arrested by the police for an unrelated crime. The defense psychiatrist testified that Kimmel had been an avid methamphetamine user since the age of 14. Furthermore Kimmel’s co-conspirator in this crime was given a lighter sentence of life in prison while Kimmel was sentenced to die. Executing CLIFFORD KIMMEL would violate the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and constitute the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment.
