NCADP is Growing!
Increased State Focus
NCADP is expanding its State Policy Department with the addition of two broadly experienced individuals with backgrounds in political, social issue and grassroots activist campaigns. The Coalition’s State Policy Department provides its member affiliates with anti-death penalty campaign strategy, consulting and communications materials. Joining NCADP are Gregory A. Joseph, the organization’s new State Policy Director, and Joshua Noble, State Policy Organizer.
Gregory, who has worked in both political and issue-advocacy campaigns across the United States, will be responsible for furthering NCADP’s multi-faceted approach to abolishing the death penalty by focusing on legislative, media and grassroots efforts.
An experienced research and policy expert, Gregory recently worked on the successful Bob Menendez for Senate campaign in New Jersey, and prior to that, was the campaign manager for New York City Councilman David Yassky's bid for the U.S. House. In addition, he’s led research teams and directed policy efforts on a number of state and national political campaigns and ballot issues, including former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley for President, former mayors Harvey Gantt and Ron Kirk, and the YES For Better Schools and Jobs ballot issue. He has also consulted for the Global Aids Alliance, UNICEF and Planned Parenthood. He is a 1994 graduate of Indiana State University where he received a degree in political science.
Joshua Noble is State Policy Organizer for NCADP. This past fall, he served as the Field Director and National Liaison for No Death Penalty Wisconsin. Joshua is a part-time student pursuing his Masters in Social Work at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Previously he worked for three and a half years as the Project Administrator of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Capital Punishment Project. At the ACLU Joshua staffed the Ad Hoc coalition and coordinated grassroots efforts, including establishing Students Against the Death Penalty. Joshua also was a Legislative Assistant for the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, where he started his death penalty work. He is a 1999 graduate of American University with a B.A. in International Relations.
"Gregory and Joshua will be building our state policy department and leading our efforts to support individual state campaigns,” says Diann Rust-Tierney, NCADP executive director. “We are delighted that they are helping us build the infrastructure needed to support effective nationwide efforts to end the death penalty.”
