PRESCRIPTION PROJECT & NPA JOIN FORCES TO STEM NEGATIVE INFLUENCE OF DRUG INDUSTRY

Do you want to help shape the future of the National Physicians Alliance? Your chance is coming soon.
The National Physicians Alliance will be electing two physician members to serve on the Board of Directors for four-year terms. Additionally, the NPA will be appointing four physician members to serve on the Board of Directors of varying terms.
The Elections Committee welcomes applications from dedicated members who are ready and willing to serve the organization at the leadership level. Self-nominations are encouraged.
The Official Call for Applications will be published soon and applications will be accepted from November 15 to December 15, 2007. Keep an eye on the www.npalliance.org and in your inbox.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED
Are you a policy guru? Maybe you have experience with meeting planning or public relations. The NPA needs motivated and committed members to serve on committees and will soon be accepting applications. Our national committees include:

Policy (including work on prescription privacy, universal health care, global health workforce, safety-focused malpractice reform and more)

Meetings and Retreats (regional and national events)

Organizational Structure (council of consumers, elections)

Ethics (guideline development)
No matter what your skills or experience, there is something to meet your interests. The NPA is your organization and all members are welcome and encouraged to apply and get involved. Please forward to colleagues or friends that you think might be interested.

POLICY- seeking general committee members and members of the following sub-committees: Prescription Privacy, Universal Health Care, Global Health Workforce, Patient Centered Malpractice Reform Subcommittees
MEETINGS AND RETREATS- seeking National Meeting Programming Coordinators (2-3) and Regional Meeting Coordinators (2-3).
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE - seeking members for the Council of Consumers Sub-Committee (3-4), Elections Sub-Committee (2-3).
ETHICS - This committee is just forming and anyone interested in medical ethics is welcome to be a part of our evolution.
FINANCE AND DEVELOPMENT- positions include Foundation Liaison, Grant Writers (2-3), Special Campaign Coordinator, Donor Cultivation, AMSA alumni outreach.
COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS - seeking Web coordinator, Blog coordinator, Newsletter coordinator, Letter to the editor coordinator, Media Relations, Messaging/Framing, Graphics Coordinator, Liaison to NPA Task Forces, and Liaison to other organizations.
MEMBERSHIP - positions include New Member Recruitment (3-5), Renewing Member Recruitment (1-2), Local Action Group Coordinators (3-5), Idealist Care Package Coordinators (2-5), Member Benefit Coordinators (2-4).
POLICY CORNER: PROMOTING THE AFRICA HEALTH CAPACITY INVESTMENT ACT
The NPA, in coalition with other global health advocacy groups, is lobbying Congress to pass the Africa Health Capacity Investment Act, a bill that would authorize Congress to work with nations in Sub-Saharan Africa to develop comprehensive and sustainable health care systems; to train and retain health workers in their country of origin; and to provide funding for these plans. We have already had significant success in moving this bill through the Senate. Now it's time to work on the House side! Learn more and take action.
